Downtown Market Opens
The Downtown Casper Community Farmers’ Market (DCCFM) opens today, Tues., July 22 from 5-8 p.m. on the northeast corner of the City’s Nicolaysen Art Museum property. Committee members expect everything from local early produce, plants and flowers to homemade Baklava and prepared foods including beef jerky, cold shish kabobs, mouth-watering cheeses and flavored bubbles for the kids as part of the affair.
The market opens for the first of ten (10) Tuesdays with the Casper Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors red ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by Councilwoman Kenyne Schlager, Vice-President of Council and Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Chairman Drew Perkins ringing the bell to officially open the market.
A community market includes community partners and the DCCFM has partnered with DDA and NOWCAP in creating locally sewn re-usable market bags. NOWCAP will have bags available for sale and proceeds will mostly benefit NOWCAP. The weekly “Kids Corral” will include fun activities for the youngsters while parents shop and visit. Three local music groups perform throughout the event. They are, appropriately named, "Homemade Jam" with Mitch & Sonnie from 5-6 p.m. performing Folk Music & Favorites; Donny Fogle from 6-7 p.m. performing Old Time Rock followed by Ana & Friends from 7-8 p.m. performing Blue Grass and Old Time Country.
More fresh produce vendors are welcome and should call the DDA office to reserve a space as soon as possible at 235-6710. Also, vendor packets can be picked up at the DCCFM information booth where market t-shirts can be purchased for only $10.00 to support the market.
